For those intimidated by the prospect of speaking in public, don’t worry; public speaking can be taught, and more importantly, it can be mastered.
I coach public speaking at academic institutions including The University of Cambridge, The London School of Economics and University College London. I offer two workshop formats for students: One-to-one Individual Coaching and an Introduction to Public Speaking Group Workshop, both of which can be done face to face or online.
One-to-one Individual Coaching- 30 minutes to 1 hour sessions
Being a successful academic or policy-maker isn’t just about what you say, it’s about how you say it. Designed to help create a confident and dynamic public persona, these sessions go straight to the heart of any problems or hang-ups that might be holding you back from achieving your full potential.
In a supportive and un-intimidating environment students will receive careful guidance that will boost their ability to speak successfully in public with flair and passion. These individual sessions can also be geared to focus on specific upcoming presentations or vivas.
Introduction to public speaking- Half day group workshop for up to 16 students
This playful, fast-paced introduction will take participants through the key aspects of what it takes to have an impact as a public speaker. The workshop will include a focus on vocal and physical presentation, advice on how to best structure talks, as well as more subtle qualities such as what it is that makes an individual interesting in front of an audience. The workshop is suitable for students of all levels. By the end of the session, students will leave with an understanding of what is required to give a successful presentation and what they need to achieve in order to present in public with confidence, style and good humour.
